A JOYOUS OCCASION: CHIEF MULUNDU THE 12TH INSTALLED IN GRAND CEREMONY

In a jubilant atmosphere, Mulundu Chiefdom celebrated the installation of Mr. Jonas Mwandu as the 12th Chief, a momentous event marked by unity, tradition, and aspirations for a prosperous future. The esteemed guest of honor, Luapula Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Ms. Prudence M. Chinama, conveyed heartfelt congratulations on behalf of President Hakainde Hichilema and the government, commending the Mulundu Royal Family for a seamless transition of power.

Ms. Chinama underscored the significance of this occasion as a testament to the strength and stability of the Mulundu lineage, setting an inspiring example for other chiefdoms. She emphasized the pivotal role traditional leadership plays in maintaining social unity, preserving cultural values, and fostering grassroots leadership.

Highlighting the government's commitment, she mentioned key projects like the Mwenda-Kasomeno road and bridge construction, along with the establishment of a one-stop border post, as transformative initiatives for Mulundu. These projects not only bring infrastructural development but also promise job opportunities, urging the Mulundu people to equip themselves with skills for active participation in shaping a brighter future.

Ms. Chinama acknowledged the challenges of gender-based violence and early marriages, expressing the government's determination to tackle these issues collaboratively with traditional leaders. She assured an open-door policy from President Hichilema, emphasizing his willingness to engage with chiefs in spearheading developmental initiatives.

The call to action extended to all chiefs nationwide, encouraging collaboration with the government to ensure every Zambian citizen thrives. The Mulundu community was urged to support their new chief, with the Mwense District Commissioner, Happystone Mwape, expressing the government's eagerness to collaborate for the development of Mulundu Chiefdom.

Mr. Stephen Chikota, Chairperson of the Mwense Town Council, applauded President Hichilema for championing development through decentralization, noting the visible impact of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) across the region. He encouraged Chief Mulundu the 12th to seize the opportunity to further enhance the progress of the chiefdom.

In a gracious vote of thanks, Mr. Kayabala Mwewa, Chairperson of the Mulundu Royal Trust, expressed gratitude to everyone, including the government, for contributing to the success of the installation ceremony.
